What do I actually need to buy for my new Leica M so I don't ruin it right away? I just saved up forever and finally got one for my honeymoon trip to Florence next Friday but now Im looking at all these extra things online and its so overwhelming. I literally have no idea what a thumb grip is or if I need those glass filters for the lens... do I? My budget is super low now since the camera cost a fortune so I can maybe spend like $200 more. Should I get a specific strap or a case? Sorry if these are stupid questions I just dont want to scratch the lens on my first day out...

Focus on protection since you're traveling. Honestly, I tried a generic strap and it was not as good as expected... almost dropped my kit.
- B+W E39 UV Haze MRC Nano Filter keeps the lens safe from scratches.
- Peak Design Leash Camera Strap is way more secure than the stock one. Unfortunately, most thumb grips are overpriced and unnecessary for your first trip. Stick to the basics so you dont worry about the gear!

Which M model did you pick up? Handling is way safer with a Haoge THB-M10B Thumb Grip for Leica M10 so it wont slip. It works well for adding security on crowded streets.

- Im actually satisfied skipping filters.
- My tests showed they caused too much flare.
- My current setup stayed pristine just using a soft cloth wrap inside my bag while traveling.
