I finally splurged on the X-T5 for my trip to Kyoto next month but honestly im kinda frustrated with how it feels in my hand. the grip is just so tiny and my pinky keeps dangling off the bottom which makes it feel like im gonna drop it every time I try to do street shots. for nearly two grand youd think it would feel more secure.

plus the battery life seems way shorter than the reviews said so im already stressed about it dying halfway through a day of shooting. I need to get this sorted before my flight in three weeks. what are the actual must-have accessories to make this thing usable? like what grips or batteries are actually worth the money?

tbh the Fujifilm MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip is the best fix for that dangling pinky. For power, grab two extra Fujifilm NP-W235 Li-ion Battery units. The CIPA rating is 580 shots, but street shooting with Boost Mode on usually eats that way faster. I'd also recommend the Nitecore FX3 Dual Slot USB Charger because it monitors real-time voltage and battery health while you're charging on the go.

Just saw this and it reminded me of my last trip to Osaka. I struggled with that exact same cramped feeling on my X-T5. I actually almost fumbled it once while trying to snap a shot in the rain... super stressful. Since you're worried about the grip, I went with the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 4060. It adds just enough height for your pinky and feels way more solid for street work. I'd suggest being careful with third-party batteries tho. I've seen cheap ones swell and get stuck inside the camera body. Instead, grab a power bank like the Anker 533 Power Bank PowerCore 30W 10000mAh. The X-T5 supports USB-C PD charging so you can juice it up during lunch. Also, definitely look into the Lensmate Fujifilm X-T5 Folding Thumb Grip. Having that leverage point for your thumb makes it feel way more secure for one-handed street shots. Just make sure the hot shoe fit is snug.
