What accessories are actually essential for a new X-T5 because I just blew most of my budget on the body and the 18-55mm kit lens? I’m headed to Japan in about three weeks for a dream trip and I have maybe $250 left to spend on gear which isnt a ton. Im really torn between three main things right now and I cant decide which will save me the most headache while I am traveling.
First off, do I really need the official Fujifilm NP-W235 battery or can I get away with the SmallRig ones that come in a two pack with a charger? The official one is so expensive but I dont want my camera to fry or something while I am in Kyoto. Also I have pretty big hands and the X-T5 feels a bit small so I was looking at the SmallRig handgrip or even the full cage just to give my pinky a place to rest, but then that adds weight. Lastly, should I splurge on a really fast V60 or V90 SD card? I'm looking at the Sony Tough cards because people say they are bulletproof but they are like $100 just for one.
If you had to pick between better power, better ergonomics, or faster storage for a two week walking trip, which one wins? I dont want to be stuck with a dead battery halfway through the day but a sore hand also sounds miserable...
Just saw this thread. Like someone mentioned, power is priority number one. I've been really happy with how the SmallRig NP-W235 Camera Battery (2-Pack) performs in my X-T5. Technically, that 40MP sensor produces huge files, but you don't necessarily need V90 speeds for stills unless you're doing heavy video.
ngl, I was in the same boat when I got my X-T5. Japan is gonna be amazing but you'll be walking a ton so keep it light. I've been really satisfied with Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack for NP-W235. They’re dirt cheap and I havent had any issues with them dying early or weird error messages. For the grip situation, a full cage is overkill for travel imo. Just get the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5. It makes a huge difference for big hands and doesn't add much weight at all. Also, for storage, I've had no complaints with the Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60. Its way cheaper than those Sony Tough cards and still plenty fast for the 40MP sensor. You'll have plenty of cash left over for ramen and sushi this way...
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
Works great for me
In my experience, running out of juice mid-day in Kyoto is a total nightmare. Ive used the SmallRig NP-W235 Camera Battery Charger Set for years without issues on these bodies.
