I just got a Fuji X-T5 for my Japan trip next month and honestly setting it up is driving me crazy. Why is there so much gear? I have about $200 left for accessories. Just need a comfy strap and a case or bag. Is there a simple starter kit or something? Seriously confusing...

Yeah, padding is key. Sadly, my X-T5 got scratched in Tokyo using a flimsy wrap. Get the Tenba Skyline v2 8 Shoulder Bag Black instead, its 300D polyester density actually protects it.

Like someone mentioned, those Peak Design options are basically the industry standard now, but if youre worried about bumping your new gear in crowded trains or busy streets in Japan, I usually lean toward stuff with a bit more padding. The X-T5 is a sturdy beast but it is still a lot of glass and electronics to lug around. I personally suggest the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 20 Pewter for travel. It is super reliable and has much thicker foam walls than the slimmer slings, which gives me peace of mind when putting it in an overhead bin or under a seat. It also comes with a dedicated rain cover, which is a lifesaver if you get caught in a sudden downpour in Kyoto. It looks more like a generic bag than a camera bag too, which is a nice safety feature imo. For the strap, check out the SmallRig Camera Neck Strap with Quick Release 2428. It is wider than the one that comes in the box, so it wont dig into your neck after ten miles of walking. The quick release is very secure... I have never had a failure with their clips. If you have extra cash left in that $200 budget, maybe grab a SmallRig X-T5 L-Shape Grip with Walnut Handle too. It makes the camera way easier to hold securely so you dont accidentally fumbles it while taking photos of the skyline. Japan is incredible, you are gonna have a blast with that setup.
