Finally pulled the trigger on the X-T5 after months of watching reviews and I honestly love the retro feel but man my hands are kind of cramping up during longer walks. I am based in Chicago so I am out in the cold a lot and wearing gloves makes the grip even more of an issue. I am trying to figure out how to kitting this thing out for everyday use without making it look like a giant rig because I really bought it for that slim profile and those tactile dials.

Right now I am torn between the SmallRig L-Shape Grip and the official Fujifilm MHG-XT5. The SmallRig is way cheaper, like 40 bucks versus 130 for the Fuji one, and it has that built in cold shoe and Arca Swiss plate which is handy but I am worried it looks a bit cheap or bulky compared to the original. Does the official one feel more seamless? I also need a strap and I am looking at either the Peak Design Slide Lite or one of those nice leather straps from Clever Supply Co. The Peak Design is so functional with the anchors but part of me thinks a nice leather strap would look better with the silver body I got. I dont want to spend more than 200 total on all the bits and pieces so if I go with the Fuji grip my strap budget is basically gone.

I am also thinking about a screen protector and maybe a soft shutter button but Ive heard those can actually damage the shutter mechanism if they get snagged on something in a bag. Is that actually a thing or just people being paranoid? I usually shoot street and some family stuff so I need it to be durable but still look decent when I am out at a coffee shop or whatever. If you had to pick one grip and one strap for a daily driver setup on the X-T5 what are you guys leaning toward these days...

Totally agree about those shutter buttons... they really can snag. Since you're in Chicago and need a solid grip without the bulk, these alternatives are solid:

I tried the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 but the build quality wasnt as good as expected. The Fujifilm MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip is better but unfortunately costs way too much.
