Im so excited for my Japan trip next month but honestly im getting so frustrated trying to kit out this X-S20. I thought the bigger battery would be a lifesaver but it still feels like it drains way too fast when im playing with the settings and those film sims all day. Plus the strap that comes in the box is literally garbage it keeps digging into my neck and its driving me crazy.
My logic was that I could just travel light with one lens but now im realizing I need a way to charge on the go and maybe a better grip? I have about 300 bucks left in my budget for accessories before I leave in three weeks and im just stuck. I looked at some Peak Design stuff but its so expensive and then I was thinking maybe a thumb grip would help but I dont want to block the dials.
Does anyone actually have a setup that doesnt feel like a mess of wires and awkward straps? I just want to be able to walk around Tokyo for 10 hours without my shoulder dying or my battery hitting 0% by noon. If I have to carry a massive power bank and a bunch of extra stuff I feel like it defeats the purpose of such a small camera...
Honestly, the X-S20 is a beast but those film sims definitely suck the life out of the battery faster than you would expect. I would suggest being careful with third-party batteries though, some cheap ones swell up and get stuck in the chamber which is a total nightmare. Stick to a solid power bank instead. You might want to consider the Anker 523 Power Bank PowerCore 10K because its slim enough to slide into a back pocket while you charge via USB-C during lunch. For the strap, dont blow your whole budget on the big name brands. The SmallRig Camera Shoulder Strap with Quick Release is basically a budget version of the Peak Design Slide and works just as well for way less money. Also, make sure to grab a SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Fujifilm X-S20 if your hand is cramping. It adds a bit more surface area for your pinky without adding much weight. That should keep you under your 300 dollar limit easily.
