honestly im starting to regret the x-s20 a little bit and it sucks because the image quality is amazing but the actual experience of carrying it around all day is just... frustrating. i just spent way too much on the body and a 18-55mm for my upcoming trip to kyoto in three weeks and now im realizing i have zero of the stuff i actually need to make it through a full day of shooting without losing my mind. the strap that comes in the box is absolute trash like it actually scratches my neck and the battery life was supposed to be better with the new w235 battery but i went out yesterday for a practice run and it was dead by 3pm because i keep messing with the settings.
so i was thinking about maybe getting a peak design strap but then i saw the price and was like do i really need to spend sixty bucks on a piece of fabric? my logic was that a simple wrist strap might be better but then my hand gets tired since the grip is kinda deep but the camera is still light enough to flop around. im also totally stuck on the power situation. do i buy the official fuji batteries which are overpriced or can i trust those third party ones from amazon? i heard some of them swell up and i dont want to ruin a brand new two thousand dollar setup.
i really need like a definitive list of what you guys actually use for travel that doesnt add five pounds of weight. i have about 250 bucks left in my budget for this. im looking for stuff like:
i was looking at those smallrig baseplates too because i feel like my pinky finger has nowhere to go but then it gets heavier and i just want this to be simple. it feels like every time i solve one problem i find another one and im just stressed about this trip now. what is actually essential and what is just hype?...
Building on the earlier suggestion, i totally get being nervous about cheap batteries. Swelling is a real risk with those no-name brands from amazon so i usually stick to official ones for my main bodies. You could just grab one extra Fujifilm NP-W235 Li-Ion Battery for peace of mind and then use a power bank for top-ups when you are grabbing lunch. If the peak design strap is too pricey, the SmallRig Camera Shoulder Strap 2429 is a decent budget option that feels way better than the stock one and wont scratch your neck. Since your pinky is hanging off, that SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Fujifilm X-S20 4229 is actually super light and makes it way easier to hold all day without fatigue. For a bag, the Tomtoc Compact EDC Sling Bag 7 Inch fits the x-s20 and that 18-55mm lens perfectly and stays pretty low profile. It leaves you plenty of money for food on your trip too.
Yo! The X-S20 is an absolute beast, dont let the strap ruin it! Grab these and you're set:
