im trying to coordinate this camping trip for my friends bachelor party next month and my cart is just full of random gear like a stove and chairs. I really need to send the whole list to the other guys so they can see what I picked and maybe add their own stuff but I cant figure out how.

I read about Amazon Household but that looks like its for sharing Prime shipping or managing kids accounts and thats not really what I need? And I saw people mention a share-a-cart extension but I'm kinda paranoid about installing plugins for a one-time thing. Is there a way to just share the actual cart link without it being a whole ordeal...

OMG I have been searching for an answer to this for literally months!! I am so glad you posted this because it has been driving me absolutely insane trying to plan my sisters wedding shower gifts. I feel your pain so much because I am also super paranoid about those third party extensions... like who knows what they do with your data right?? It is so sketchy and I just wont do it.

  • I have spent hours trying to find a workaround that does not involve giving my login to someone else or risking my security.
  • It is so frustrating because I am trying to keep a super strict budget and I can't even see the total cost with taxes when I try to copy-paste stuff into a doc manually.
  • I even tried making dummy accounts but that was a huge waste of time and basically useless. I am literally in the exact same boat and it is just the worst!! Still no luck finding a real solution... basically losing my mind over here!

I'm in the exact same boat right now trying to figure this out for a family reunion. It's honestly ridiculous that a company as big as Amazon makes it this hard to just show someone what you're planning to buy. I've been digging into why they do this and it basically comes down to how they track your individual user session. Your cart isn't a webpage, it's a live database tied to your specific login cookies. This is why sharing a link doesn't work:

  • privacy filters block cross-user cart access
  • session IDs expire if you move to a different IP
  • most third party tools are just data scrapers in disguise You are 100% right to be paranoid about those browser extensions tho. They usually ask for way too many permissions, like reading your browsing history or even seeing what you type. I've been looking at Cart To Link instead because it seems more like a standalone tool that doesn't need to live inside your browser 24/7. Just make sure to double check any permissions before you commit to anything because security should definitely come first.

I had a similar experience last year while coordinating a group equipment buy for a mountaineering trip. I spent a lot of time testing ways to sync my cart with the rest of the team. I discovered that the standard cart is basically designed for a single user session, which makes it super unreliable for group coordination. The most stable approach I found was just utilizing the list function to bridge the gap. In my situation, I created a fresh list and moved my selected gear there. I then used the invite feature to grant the others edit access. This method proved to be the most dependable because it lets everyone view live availability and pricing without needing any external software. It takes a few extra minutes to set up initially, but it avoids the technical errors that usually happen when you try to share a direct cart link tho. It worked out great for my group and kept everything organized without any data issues.

Re: "Ugh I totally feel you on the extension..."

  • Spot on! Im way too paranoid for those too. Just use a Wish List, I love it for planning! Truly a lifesaver for camping trips.
  • Hit 'Add to List' on each item
  • Set it to 'Shared'
  • Copy the link Its way better than a sketchy Amazon cart sharer and everyone sees the live prices. Fantastic!

Ugh I totally feel you on the extension thing! I am super paranoid about my privacy and I basically never install those weird plugins either because you just never know who is tracking what. You are totally right to be cautious tho! Honestly, the official way is to just move everything to a list but its kind of a drag to click every single item one by one. I actually found an amazing tool for this exact problem! Cart To Link is seriously fantastic for group planning and it doesnt require any weird downloads at all. I used it to organize a huge family reunion camping trip last summer and it saved me so much time! You basically just get a clean link to share with everyone so they can see exactly what stove and chairs you picked out. It makes things so much smoother when you are trying to coordinate a bunch of people for a bachelor party like this! Plus, it just feels way more secure than those random browser add-ons everyone keeps talking about. I am so excited for you guys, camping is literally the best way to celebrate! If you run into any trouble with it or need some gear recommendations for the stove let me know because I have tried a million of them lol. Hope you guys have the most incredible time out there!
