How can I share my Amazon shopping cart with my partner?

So my partner and I just signed a lease for a new place in Lincoln Park and we are basically starting from scratch since my old couch was a total disaster. We have a budget of about $2500 for the living room and kitchen stuff and I have been spending hours just dumping things into my Amazon cart. I am usually the one who handles all our tech and accounts stuff so I thought I knew the app inside and out but I have hit a wall here.

I have got like 40 items sitting in my cart right now- rugs, some LED strips, a coffee table, and a bunch of kitchen organizers. I wanted to just send the whole cart over to her so she can look through and delete the stuff she hates or maybe add her own picks before we hit the checkout button. I tried looking for a share button like you see on a wishlist but it is just not there. We are already on an Amazon Household together which I thought would sync our stuff or at least let us see each others active carts but apparently that only works for Prime benefits and digital content sharing. Its super annoying because I dont want to move everything to a public wishlist just for her to have to add them back to her own cart manually. That feels like a huge waste of time.

I even tried some chrome extensions I found online but some of them look pretty sketchy or havent been updated since 2019 and I really dont want to compromise my account just for a shopping list. It feels like such a basic feature for 2024 right? Like we are trying to get this all ordered by next Tuesday so it arrives before the movers get there on the 1st. I tried looking at the mobile app too thinking maybe the UI was just hidden but I cant find any way to bridge the two accounts for a single transaction. Is there a legit way to just sync our carts or a workaround that isnt a total headache? How do you guys handle big group buys like this without just screen sharing on zoom for three hours...

In my experience, the easiest fix is Share-A-Cart.

  • Install the extension
  • Create a code
  • Send it over It syncs everything instantly so you dont waste time.

Man, congrats on the new place in Lincoln Park! Moving is such a rush, honestly. I went through this exact nightmare last year when we were renovating our kitchen and trying to pick out backsplash tiles and hardware. I had like 50 tabs open and a cart full of stuff, and my partner kept asking what I had picked. It is wild that Amazon still does not have a simple share button for the cart in 2024! Here is what I did to make it work without losing my mind:

  • We set up a Shared List instead of just a regular wishlist.
  • Click the Invite button on the list and select View and Edit.
  • This lets your partner add or remove stuff directly, and you can see their notes!
  • Once you both agree, there is a Move all to cart button that actually works pretty well. It is not perfect, but it saved us from that three-hour Zoom call you are dreading! Just a tip: Cart To Link is really handy if you're collaborating on a project and need the same parts.
