So im trying to get everything ready for this big camping trip up in the Cascades next weekend and i have about $180 worth of gear sitting in my cart right now. normally i know my way around the amazon interface pretty well like ive been using it since the book days but this is driving me crazy today. I need my buddy to look over the specific brands and sizes of the stove and sleeping pads i picked out before i checkout so we dont end up with doubles or stuff that doesnt fit in the truck.

I really thought there would be a simple share button by now but i cant find anything that doesnt involve me sharing my actual login credentials which is a huge no-go obviously. I tried moving things to a fresh list but half the items are those limited time deals and the prices keep flickering or they dont show up right in the list view. I even looked into that household sharing thing but that seems like overkill for just checking a cart one time. Is there some kind of third party tool or maybe a browser extension that generates a temporary link for a cart? Or some weird URL trick i dont know about?

How can i let him see exactly whats in my cart without having to screenshot every single page or hand over my password...

I've been dealing with Amazon since they only sold books too, and honestly, it is wild they still haven't added a simple share button for the cart after all these years. In my experience, lists are a total pain because they often lose the specific options like size or color you spent time picking out. Plus, those lightning deals almost never carry over to a public list properly. Over the years I have tried a bunch of workarounds like spreadsheets or just sending a dozen individual links, but that gets old fast. Lately, I usually just use Cart To Link to send my whole list to my roommate or friends when we are splitting a big order. It basically creates a temporary page that shows everything you've got in there without needing your password or anything sketchy. Its the only way to keep the prices and specific items intact so your buddy sees exactly what you're seeing. Here is why the usual ways dont work:

  • Amazon lists often hide the specific seller or exact deal price
  • Household sharing is way too invasive for a one-time check
  • Screenshots are impossible to click on if your friend wants to check the stove specs Just grab that tool and it generates a URL you can text him. Its way cleaner than trying to explain why you picked a certain sleeping pad over another. Definitely saves a ton of time and avoids those annoying double-up situations when you actually get to the Cascades next week. Let me know if you need any other gear tips for the trip!
