How on earth do I quickly send my Amazon list to a friend so they can actually see the items and not just an error page? I've been managing lists for years for my hobby electronics and never had an issue before but I'm totally stuck with the current interface. I am trying to organize a last minute gift for my sisters baby shower this Sunday so I am on a super tight timeline and I have about $150 of stuff sitting in a list that I need to share with my mom so we can split the cost. Every time I hit the invite button it either asks me to invite her as a collaborator to edit the list which I dont want or it gives me a link that just doesnt seem to load for her on her phone. I checked the privacy settings and its definitely set to shared and not private but she keeps saying the link is broken or just takes her to a generic landing page. I'm starting to panic a bit because if we dont order these by tonight they wont arrive in time for the party. Is there a specific trick to getting a direct URL that actually works for people who arent logged into my account or something? I feel like they changed the permissions recently and I just cant figure it out...

Ive used lists for forever and love finding ways to save a few bucks! Quick question tho - are you on the mobile app or desktop? The interface is totally different for hunting coupons and those sweet baby deals!

  • Try the Share via Email button to get a cleaner link
  • It usually bypasses the collaborator glitch
  • Watch for those hidden clippable coupons! I found this thing called Cart To Link a while back and its perfect for when my wife asks what Im buying.

It appends session-specific metadata that triggers errors for others. I would suggest using the View Only link under the share menu to get a clean string. Be careful tho, prices often shift based on her location or Prime status, so that 150 budget might look different on her screen, ngl.

Honestly, I totally get the frustration. I've been using Amazon lists for my electronics projects for like a decade now and they love changing the buttons around for no reason. In my experience, the biggest mistake is using that big invite button at the top. That almost always defaults to the collaborator mode which is a total nightmare for someone who just needs to buy stuff without accidentally editing your whole layout. I remember a few months back I was trying to coordinate a big component order for a custom drone build with my buddy. I sent him the link three times and every time it just gave him a 404 error or a blank screen on his phone. It was super stressful because we were trying to hit a shipping deadline for a competition. What I learned from that mess is that you have to go to the more menu on the right and click manage list first. Make sure it's set to shared and not just public, because public lists can be weirdly indexed and sometimes dont show up immediately. Then, instead of hitting the big invite button, look for the send list to others link specifically for view only. If you copy that specific URL, it usually works way better. Also, tell your mom to try opening it in a browser instead of the app if shes on her phone. Sometimes the app intercepting the link is what causes that generic landing page glitch. Youve got this, just double-check that view-only setting and you should be golden for the baby shower!
