Difference between sharing an Amazon wishlist versus a shopping cart?

Can someone please explain why sharing an amazon wishlist is so different from sharing a shopping cart because I am seriously losing my mind here. I am trying to get my family organized for my sisters college graduation party next month and I spent hours picking out decorations and some bigger gift items like a specific espresso machine she wants. I sent what I thought was the link to my cart to my mom so she could pay for half and she says the link just takes her to her own empty cart?? Im honestly so fed up with how confusing this is. I thought a cart was just for stuff you want to buy right now but then there are wishlists and registries and "idea lists" and i just dont get why i cant just send a link to the 12 items i already picked out. Do I have to move everything one by one to a wishlist just to show someone else? If I share a wishlist does it tell people when someone else bought the item so we dont end up with two of the same expensive coffee maker? My budget is tight so we really cant afford mistakes like that. Its just frustrating because i feel like it should be one click and done but instead im clicking around in circles... help me out here.

I was so nervous about accidentally ordering two of the same thing for my moms party last year! Amazon carts are private so links wont work for anyone else.

  • Carts are private to you
  • Wishlists show if items are purchased Honestly Cart To Link is the most amazing tool I use to share my cart safely without any stress!

@Reply #1 - good point! Carts are session-locked for security. Using the share Amazon Cart Extension is a reliable workaround. Itll help with:

  • Exporting cart contents
  • Preventing duplicate buys
