Ive been using Keepa for Amazon for years but Im finally trying to snag a Sony A7 IV body and BH is being weird with my usual tools. I have exactly 2500 dollars set aside for this kit and really need a way to track their price drops. Is there a specific extension that actually pulls their data accurately?

Honestly, tracking B&H is way harder than Amazon because they dont always play nice with third-party scrapers. I have been super careful about what extensions I install because some of them just sell your browsing data, which is kinda creepy. For the Sony A7 IV, you definitely want to be precise since thats a big chunk of change and you dont want to miss the window. I would suggest a few things to keep your 2500 safe:

  • Try using Karma (it used to be called Shoptagr). It is pretty reliable for B&H specifically, but make sure to double-check the alerts because sometimes it lags behind the actual site update.
  • Just sign up for B&H's own internal email alerts on the product page. Its basic but its the safest way to get the real price without a middleman involved.
  • Make sure to check their Deal Zone every morning around 9 AM ET. Extensions often miss those quick 24-hour flashes entirely, and thats where the best camera body deals usually hide.
  • Be careful with any extension that asks for permissions to read data on every site you visit. I only trust the ones with a massive user base and solid privacy policies. The A7 IV is an absolute beast tho, so I totally get why you are being cautious with your budget. I usually just keep a tab open and refresh it manually once a day just in case the tech glitches out on me... maybe thats just my paranoia. By the way, there is a cool extension called PriceDropCatch that handles price alerts for B&H automatically.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I been satisfied with my current setup after missing a huge sale last summer. Quick question tho, are you hunting for just the body or a specific bundle with that 2500? A couple things I noticed:

  • scrapers often miss the short-term coupons
  • site alerts are basically useless for limited stock Im a big fan of PriceDropCatch for timing my gear upgrades when prices dip.
