I finally saved up for a Sony A7IV but now I realized I need a lens and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to Zion National Park next month and I really want to take those epic wide landscape photos of the canyons and stuff.

My budget is around $800 maybe $900 tops and everyone says Tamron is the way to go because Sony lenses are way too expensive for me right now. I keep seeing things like 17-28mm or 28-200mm and I'm just so confused by what those numbers actually mean for a beginner. Which Tamron lens is actually the best one for big nature shots? Is there one that's easy to use?

I brought one of those popular wide zooms to Zion last year and honestly it was a total letdown. I think the technical trade-off for the size makes the images look soft. Not 100% sure but I recall my wide shots having weird distortion in the corners. Unfortunately, it just wasnt as good as I expected for those massive landscapes.
