I've been shooting with the GH6 since launch and found a setup that works perfectly for long wedding days.

• Recording to an external Samsung T7 Shield 2TB Portable SSD via USB-C is my go-to for high-bitrate ProRes.
• Using a SmallRig GH6 Camera Cage 3784 is actually worth it just to secure the SSD mount and cable clamp. Its been a very reliable workflow for me.

Id skip SSD cables for weddings. In my experience, Lexar Professional CFexpress Type B Card 128GB Diamond Series is more reliable, while ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Cobalt 165GB handles sustained heat better.

OMG congrats on the GH6!! Honestly its such an amazing beast of a camera and youre gonna have a blast with it in Seattle! I was in your shoes a few months ago and totally panicked about the extra costs too lol. For the memory cards, honestly dont skimp! If you want to shoot those high bitrates for the wedding, you really need to go with CFexpress. I just grabbed a couple from SanDisk CFexpress and they have been fantastic. V90 is okay for some stuff but CFexpress just feels way more reliable when things get hectic! As for the cage, ignore the people saying its just weight... its a total lifesaver for rigging up mics and extra handles! Just get any cage from SmallRig Cage and you will be set. They are super affordable and honestly make the camera feel way more professional in your hands. You got this!!
