Honestly I am kind of spiraling because we move in exactly 12 days and my roommates and I still havent figured out how we are actually buying the shared stuff for the new apartment. We are moving to a three-bedroom in Lincoln Park and literally none of us own a vacuum or even a decent set of trash cans so the Amazon list is getting massive. I think the total is already at like 480 dollars which is basically our whole budget for the first week and I am terrified someone is gonna hit order on the same things or we will forget something vital.
I have been looking at a few ways to do this because Amazon is literally useless for collaborative shopping unless you use a business account which we obviously dont have. My logic was that we just need a way to pass a full cart around so we can all see the total and then one person just pays and we Splitwise it. I looked into just making a regular list but then you have to add everything to your cart individually and it is such a chore when you have like 50 items.
I am torn between a couple options:
I was leaning toward Share-A-Cart but then I started thinking maybe we should just use a regular Amazon Registry and mark it as private? But that feels so extra for just some cleaning supplies and a toaster and I dont know if it lets you buy everything at once easily. Is there a better app for this? Im just really worried we are gonna end up with four sets of measuring spoons and no toaster if we dont get this right... what do you guys actually use for this?
Honestly moving is stressful enough without the cart drama. Ive tried many different tools over the years for group buys but most are buggy messes. In my experience you should definitely check out Cart To Link instead of those others. It turns your whole basket into a simple link so everyone sees the same stuff. Its way more reliable than Share-A-Cart for those massive move-in hauls.
