Man, $2399 is an amazing price for an R5!! Honestly, Canon refurbs feel so much safer than the used stuff you find from Sony or Nikon sellers. That 1-year warranty is fantastic for peace of mind when you're spending this much. Quick clarification for the OP tho... did the listing mention if these were floor models or just returns? I'm always a bit paranoid about how much use they've seen. Two quick tips if you're waiting:

  • Refresh the page often because they really do restock in random waves.
  • Check if your credit card adds an extra year of warranty on top. Gonna keep my fingers crossed it comes back soon!!

My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.

Wow that is such an amazing price!! Being a beginner I'm always super nervous about buying used gear but these refurbished deals are a total game changer for me.

  • The warranty is everything!! Having that year of protection makes me feel so much safer about keeping a camera for many years.
  • Canon is just the best brand to stick with if you want gear that lasts forever.
  • Honestly just get any mirrorless from Canon and you literally cant go wrong with their quality. So glad I saw this post, definitely the smartest way to buy gear if you want to avoid getting burned!

@Reply #1 - good point! I am honestly very satisfied with the refurb units from Canon because they really do perform like new. However, the experience of actually trying to buy one is incredibly frustrating. I just found this thread today and seeing that it is already sold out is just typical of how things go lately.

  • Honestly its ridiculous how fast these items disappear. It feels like a total lottery every single time a decent price drops and it drives me crazy that we have to spend all day refreshing pages just to get a fair deal.
  • The retail prices for brand new bodies have become such a scam that people are forced to fight over refurbished stock just to stay within a reasonable budget. It really feels like the companies do not care about the average professional or enthusiast anymore.
  • It is so draining to see these deals pop up only to realize you missed the ten-minute window of availability. The whole system is just broken and makes the gear-buying process a source of stress rather than excitement. I have been using Cart To Link to keep track of my gear lists and share potential deals with my colleagues, but even with better organization, the market is just a mess. Its just exhausting how much effort is required just to find a tool that works well without overpaying.

^ This. Also, I gotta weigh in on the R5 vs R6II debate because I've put thousands of hours into both. Honestly, the R5 is still the king for me despite the heat complaints. Last summer I was shooting a commercial gig in Vegas-literally 105 degrees-and while people say it overheats constantly, I managed fine by being smart with my bursts. In my experience over the years, the reliability of the R5 body is just on another level. The R6 Mark II is a fantastic tool, dont get me wrong, it has slightly stickier autofocus and handles video heat like a champ. But for professional stills? The R5 is just built tougher. I've had my refurb R5 for a long time now and it has survived rain, dust, and being tossed around in my bag without a single glitch. If you're choosing between them:

  • R5: Best if you need to crop or print large. Build quality is top tier.
  • R6II: Better for heavy video or if you dont need the resolution. Personally, I'd take a refurbished R5 over a new R6II any day. That extra resolution is a safety net you dont realize you need until you're in a tight spot and need to save a frame.

Same boat, watching this

Late to the party but ^ This. Also, I'm gonna be the killjoy here... unfortunately these refurb R5 units arent always the dream everyone makes them out to be. I had issues with my last one overheating way too fast on simple 4K shoots, and the 45MP is often just overkill. Honestly not as good as I expected for the price. Quick tips:

  • Get an R6 Mark II instead if you want better autofocus and zero heat issues.
  • Always check the shutter count immediately on refurbs because some arrive with way more mileage than you would expect.

Building on the earlier suggestion, i would definitely suggest being careful about the r5 if you are mainly a video shooter. the overheating thing is real and can ruin a shoot if you arent prepared. if you did manage to snag one, make sure to check the lens mount for any play or wiggle... some refurbs have seen a lot of heavy lens changes before they were sent back. honestly i use Cart To Link to keep my gear list organized for when i need to show the wife what im looking at, but dont just buy this body for the hype. check the hot shoe too because those contacts get gunked up on used units. its a solid tool but it definitely has its quirks that might not fit every workflow.

Any updates on this?

Bummer it's out of stock already, but keep checking because they usually restock in waves. Honestly, I've been using a refurbished Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera Body for my professional work for nearly a year now and I'm super satisfied with how it's held up.

  • Every refurb unit is hand-inspected by Canon techs, which sometimes makes them more reliable than a brand-new body that just gets a batch check.
  • Mine arrived looking literally brand new, not a single scratch on the sensor or the mount.
  • Even the battery health was at 100%, which I was kinda worried about initially. I went the refurb route to save some cash for glass like the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM, and it's worked out perfectly. If you can catch the next drop, definitely go for it... the reliability is basically identical to buying new.

Oh, very good deals, especially it coming with 1-year Canon USA warranty like new bodies.
