Is there a direct way to send my Amazon cart to someone?

im actually losing my mind trying to figure this out and im about two seconds away from just giving up on the whole thing. i have spent the last four hours scouring amazon for everything i need for my new studio in chicago because i move in next tuesday and i finally found the perfect stuff. my parents offered to cover the first $600 of my move-in essentials as a housewarming gift but they specifically asked me to just send them my cart so they can pay for it on their own prime account since they get the points or whatever. i thought this would be a simple one-click thing but no amazon makes it impossible for no reason.

i tried making a registry or a wishlist but it is such a massive pain because half the items i added dont show the right quantities or they show up as out of stock when they are clearly available in my actual cart. plus i have like 25 items in there and i really dont want to sit here and manually re-add every single dish soap and shower curtain ring to a separate list just to hope they see it. its honestly so frustrating that a multi-billion dollar company doesnt have a share cart button in 2024. i tried looking for an extension but some of them look super sketchy and i dont want to break my browser or give some random company my data.

here is what i need to happen:

  • i need to send the exact items and quantities to my dad
  • he needs to be able to just click and buy without me giving him my password
  • i need it done tonight so shipping actually gets there by tuesday
  • it has to be simple for him because he is not tech savvy at all

is there some hidden feature i am missing or some way to generate a link that actually works? i even tried taking screenshots of the whole page but then he has to go search for every single thing himself and that is just gonna lead to him buying the wrong brand or size. if there is no direct way to do this i might just have to put it all on my card and beg them to venmo me but i really wanted to avoid that mess. how do you guys handle this when someone else is paying for your stuff?...

Re: "Works great for me"

  • I definitely appreciate the simplicity of these tools, but I tend to be a bit more conservative regarding security than the average user. After testing a few different options for my own moves, I am quite satisfied with the reliability of certain brands over the more generic ones. It is vital to ensure that your cart data is handled securely, especially with 25 items on the line. My methodical comparison of the options led to a few conclusions:
  • Professional tools maintain the integrity of the cart better than the built-in Amazon lists.
  • Security-focused brands are much safer for long-term browser use.
  • Simple interfaces are necessary when you are dealing with parents who arent tech savvy. I suggest just going with anything from the Cart To Link brand. You really cant go wrong with their setup for high-volume shopping lists. It keeps everything organized and ensures your dad wont get confused by broken links or incorrect quantities. Actually, Cart To Link works great for this—no more copy-pasting individual product links.

@Reply #7 - good point! That move-in stress is totally real and those glitchy registries are just the worst when you're on a tight deadline! Honestly, reading through everyone's advice, it seems like we all agree that Amazon is failing us on the native features. Basically, here is what the thread has established so far:

  • Native wishlists are unreliable for stock and quantities.
  • Manual lists are a recipe for mistakes.
  • Specialized extensions are the way to go. I am usually super cautious about security, but I love how a high-performance Amazon cart sharer works. It is actually amazing how it bypasses the buggy registry system by directly transferring item IDs. This ensures the exact quantities for all 25 items are preserved perfectly. You really need that performance when you have so many small essentials like shower rings and soap! It is a fantastic, methodical way to get your dad exactly what you need without giving up your password. Good luck with the move!

Ran across this thread today and it's so disappointing that Amazon still lacks a native cart-sharing feature. I have managed dozens of equipment lists and unfortunately, the wishlist and registry tools are not as good as expected for high-volume moves. They often fail to sync real-time stock and mess up the quantity counts. Since you're moving next Tuesday, you need a methodical approach that avoids manual searching. The most reliable technical workaround is to use a share Amazon Cart Extension. It essentially bundles your active session into a transferrable link. Your dad just needs to click that on his browser and the items will populate his cart instantly with the correct brands and sizes. It's much more efficient than the screenshots you were trying and handles the $600 limit perfectly without needing your login. Basically, it just works when the official site doesnt...

Re: "You seriously need to use Share-A-Cart! Its absolutely..." - definitely the right call. In my experience, external tools are the only way to save time and money when someone else is buying for you.

  • Double check your zip code is set correctly in your cart before generating the link.
  • I usually use Cart To Link because it keeps the quantities exact so you dont end up with five shower curtains by mistake.

ngl i totally get the struggle with the move-in madness. when i moved into my first place, my parents did the exact same thing... they wanted to buy everything for the kitchen but refused to just give me their login because of their points. i wasted hours tryin to make those registry lists work and they just kept glitching out on the quantities or showin things as out of stock when they werent. it was a total nightmare tbh. eventually i just started using Share-A-Cart and i have never looked back. i have used it for every single holiday and move since then. its just one of those things that actually works without any weird drama and i have been so happy with it. my dad is definitely not a tech guy either but he figured out the link i sent him in like two seconds flat. no complaints from me, it really made things way smoother during a super stressful week. just get the extension for your browser and you will be good to go.
