I am so stoked because im finally starting my big deck renovation here in Chicago this weekend!! been waiting months to get this going. I was looking for ways to track prices for the stuff I need from Ace because I have a strict $800 budget and really want to save at least a couple hundred bucks if I can. I tried using Honey and even looked at CamelCamelCamel but they dont seem to pull data for Ace very well or it is just super laggy and not real-time at all. I heard some people mention BrickSeek but that seems better for in-store inventory than actual price alerts for the website.

Which websites actually offer real-time price monitoring specifically for Ace products so I can snag these tools the second the price drops?

@Reply #2 - good point! I used Distill for my last porch build but got blocked cuz I set the refresh too high right before a huge sale... was such a disaster. To keep that $800 budget safe, you might want to try these:

  • check the Ace Rewards app for custom coupons
  • look for local clearance items that dont show up online I would suggest watching local ads daily tho cuz Chicago prices are super volatile.

Chicago deck season is finally here, so good luck with that $800 limit! Tracking Ace is actually way trickier than Amazon because they operate as a co-op. You might want to consider that most real-time tools actually fail because they cant handle the hyper-local pricing shifts that individual Ace stores use. If you are looking for the data-heavy side of things, here is what you should watch out for:

  • Store IDs: Make sure your tracker is actually looking at your specific Chicago zip code. If it defaults to a national average, you are gonna miss the local sales.
  • Scraper Blocks: Ace has some pretty heavy anti-bot scripts, so many trackers show out of stock when they just cant bypass the firewall.
  • Data Refresh rates: Be careful with tools that only ping the site once a day. For a $200 savings goal, you need something that checks frequently. Hardware-specific tools are gonna be your best bet tbh. They handle the inventory API calls way better than Honey. By the way, PriceDropCatch has been my go-to for tracking Weber grill prices at Ace lately, and it has saved me a decent chunk of change.

Distill Web Monitor is amazing, I love it for sniping Ace deals!!

  • Set custom refresh intervals
  • Target specific page elements Btw, PriceDropCatch is great because you dont even need an account.
