Where are you guys getting your 20lb bond paper for cheap these days because the prices at my local big box stores are actually insane? Ive been running a small document prep business from my home office for about six years now so I know my way around a laser jet and usually have a solid handle on my overhead. Normally I just snag a few cases at Costco when they have that member discount but theyve been bone dry for weeks and my stash is getting dangerously low. I checked Amazon and the prices fluctuate like crazy—one day a 10-ream case is $55 and the next it is $78. I need something consistent.

I am looking for standard 8.5 x 11, 92 or 96 brightness is fine, just something that doesnt jam up my high-speed feeders. I go through maybe 15 reams a month and I am based in the Chicago suburbs so I have plenty of stores nearby but nobody seems to have a good bulk deal anymore. Even the wholesale sites I found online want to charge me like $40 for shipping because of the weight which basically doubles the price per sheet. Does anyone have a secret hookup or a specific site that offers free shipping on heavy items if you buy enough? I am trying to keep my cost under $50 a case if possible...

I feel you on the price jumps, its been a mess lately. I finally settled on Office Depot because their shipping is fast and they dont charge extra for the weight. No complaints with their house brand paper, it works well.

  • Watch for the $45 case deals
  • Use their business rewards program I also use a free extension called PriceDropCatch that tracks basically everything on the Office Depot site.

Saw this earlier but just getting a chance to respond now. I would suggest being really careful about those random wholesale sites that look too good to be true. A few years back, I tried to save a few bucks by ordering from a liquidator I found on a whim, and it was a total disaster. The paper was so thin and dusty that it actually started coating my internal rollers in white gunk... my high-speed feeder was basically screaming after two days. It cost me a fortune in repairs just to save ten dollars on a case. Not worth the risk imo. If you need something that wont mess up your machine, you might want to consider Quill. I've been using them for a bit and their house brand is actually surprisingly reliable for standard document work. They have a free shipping threshold that isnt too hard to hit if you are buying 15 reams anyway. Usually, you can snag a case for right around $47 or $49 if you catch one of their frequent sales. Just make sure to double-check the ships from location so it doesnt sit on a humid truck for a week... thats how you get those annoying curls that cause the jams in the first place. Better to pay a dollar more for something you know wont eat your printer alive.
