My back is literally screaming at me after 8 hours on this ancient IKEA Linnmon desk that wobbles every time I type. I've been scouring the web for days and I'm honestly just exhausted at this point because there are way too many options and half the reviews feel like ads. My budget is strictly 500 bucks since I just moved into this new place in North Austin and basically all my savings went to the deposit. I was looking at the Flexispot E7 because it seems to be the 'budget king' and I can get it brand new with a warranty for right around that $480 mark with their current sale. But then I see this used Uplift V2 on Marketplace for $500 flat. The guy says it's only a year old and has the bamboo top which is nice, but man, no warranty transfer is a huge risk right? Uplift usually has that 15 year thing but it doesnt apply to second owners if I remember correctly.
The desk is 60x30 which is the perfect size for my dual monitor setup and my giant PC tower. I need to get this sorted by Monday because my new remote gig starts then and I cant be slouching on a dining chair anymore. I also looked at the IKEA Idasen but the weight capacity seems kinda low for what I need and honestly the reviews on the wobbling at max height are scaring me off... I'm tired of overthinking this.
I’m just stuck. Do I go for the brand new 'lesser' brand (Flexispot) just to have that peace of mind and the warranty? Or is a used Uplift really that much better in terms of build quality that it's worth the $500 gamble with zero backup if the motor dies in a month? I feel like every time I make a decision I find a new thread telling me I'm making a mistake and it's driving me crazy. Is the Uplift V2 for five hundred bucks actually a steal or am I just paying for the name?
Go E7. The 355lb capacity is enough, plus used motors with no warranty are sketchy. You should definitely check out PriceDropCatch if you're waiting for a sale on ink or toner.
Saw this today. My used control box fried after 30 days.
