Best external microphone options for the DJI Action 4 camera?

What is the absolute best mic setup for the Action 4 if I am doing mostly motovlogging and hiking? I just picked up the camera last week and honestly the image quality is blowing my mind but the internal audio is just okay when the wind starts picking up. Im heading to Switzerland in like 22 days for a massive backpacking trip so I need to get this sorted asap.

Right now I am torn between getting the DJI Mic 2 or the Rode Wireless ME. The DJI Mic 2 seems like a no brainer because of the direct connection without a receiver but man it is pricey and I dont know if the sound quality actually beats Rode. Then again the Rode Wireless ME is a bit cheaper and I’ve heard great things about the gain assist feature but then I have to deal with the receiver hanging off the side of the camera which might be annoying while I am hiking up a mountain trail.

My budget is capped at $250 tops because I still need to buy gear. Has anyone tried both? Is the DJI integration worth the extra cash or should I just stick with a simple wired lav mic and the 3.5mm adapter to save space and battery? I really want something that isnt gonna fail on me...

Building on the earlier suggestion, the thread is right about the DJI ecosystem being the smoothest path. Over the years, I've learned that simple usually wins when you're exhausted on a mountain trail. If you're still torn on the budget, here's how I see the alternatives:Rode Wireless ME Compact Digital Wireless Microphone System : GainAssist is fantastic for hiking where your volume jumps around, but the receiver is bulky and kinda annoying on a gimbal or small mount.Hollyland Lark M2 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Combo : Super tiny and way under budget. It's basically weightless, tho it lacks internal backup recording which is a risk.Sony ECM-LV1 Compact Stereo Lavalier Microphone : Paired with an adapter, this is the budget king for motovlogging since it fits in a helmet easily. In my experience, the DJI integration is worth the premium if you hate cables. But if you want to save cash for Switzerland, a wired Sony lav is bulletproof. Just make sure you test everything before you leave... gear failure in the Alps is the worst.
