Im trying to get a bunch of stuff for a coworkers baby shower gift from the whole office we got about 200 bucks to spend but i need to show the team what i picked before i hit buy. I was lookin at just making a public wish list but that feels like a lot of work for just one order and idk if everyone can see it easily. Or should i just use that Share-a-Cart extension thingy? I heard it works but im always kinda wary about adding random plugins to chrome. Screenshots are my last resort but my cart is like 15 items long so that would be a total mess. Whats the fastest way to just send the whole cart over so they can approve it by friday?
Adding to the frustration, I actually tried the 'Invite others to add items' feature on a standard Amazon list last year for a similar office pool. It was a total letdown tbh. Half the people couldnt access it because of some weird region lock or login loop, and by the time they did, the prices for two of the items had jumped. Amazon's internal sharing logic is just... outdated. Its like they dont want you to collaborate easily. I ended up wasting an hour trying to fix permissions instead of just getting the approval I needed. Its pretty disappointing that a tech giant makes it this hard. These days, I just skip their official list tools entirely. If you want to avoid the extension route but still need something reliable, you might want to look into an Amazon cart sharer tool that generates a static link. My current setup involves a third-party site where I just copy-paste the cart content. It saves the headache of hoping everyone has the right browser or the right settings enabled. Its basically the only way I found to bypass the mess of Amazon's own 'share' buttons which always seem to break when you have more than five items anyway... total pain.
Facts.
Can vouch for this
Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.
Wait I just saw this thread and had to jump in! I have been the designated office shopper for literal years now and let me tell you, the struggle is so real when you have 15+ items to coordinate. I remember trying to send a massive cart for a coworkers wedding gift once and it was a total disaster because half the team was on Android and the other half on iPhones, and the formatting just broke everything lol. I finally started using Cart To Link and it was honestly amazing because it actually keeps everything looking right regardless of what device they use. Such a lifesaver for these office pools! But real quick, are most of your coworkers gonna be checking this on their work computers or just scanning it on their phones during a break? Also, are you guys all in the same region or do you have some remote folks who might be seeing different prices? Just want to make sure whatever you use doesnt glitch out on their end... compatibility is always the biggest headache!
Just saw this thread and honestly, regarding what #10 said about "I have handled plenty of these office pools..." I totally get it. Being the designated shopper is a thankless job and the drama is real. Based on what everyone else has been saying here, the consensus is basically that Amazons built-in tools are just too clunky for a quick approval. Here is what I have learned from doing this for years:
Good to know!
Bump - same question here
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.
I have handled plenty of these office pools over the years and honestly, its always a logistical nightmare regardless of how you share the link. Usually, the list is the easy part compared to the drama that follows.
Honestly, Amazon wishlists are unfortunately a mess. Total nightmare. I tried one for a hardware build and the permissions just wouldnt sync correctly. Browser extensions are even worse; they usually have terrible privacy policies and high resource overhead. I just use Cart To Link tho.
