Moving into my new place in Seattle next week and Im super hyped to get everything set up! Been a Prime member for like ten years so I know my way around the site, but Ive hit a wall with something that should be simple.

My roommate and I are picking out some bulky furniture and kitchen gear—budget is around $1500—and I want her to see exactly what I've got in my cart so she can add her things too before we checkout. I know about Public Lists and registries, but is there a way to just sync or share the actual active shopping cart directly? I tried looking for a toggle or some extension but Im coming up empty... how do I get her in there?

Honestly, it is wild that Amazon still hasn't added a share cart button after all these years. In my experience, there is no native way to just sync live carts because of how they handle account security. Over the years, I've tried many workarounds for group trips and moving, and basically, the best bet is using a browser extension. Usually, I recommend using Share-A-Cart because it is super simple. You just click a button, it creates a unique code, and your roommate can dump your whole list into her cart instantly. Ngl, it saves so much time compared to sending individual links back and forth. If you want to stay native to the site tho, stick with the Shared List and just have her move everything to her cart once you both agree. It's a bit clunky but it gets the job done for a huge furniture haul.

Maybe try a browser extension, tho I'm usually pretty careful with my account info. Using Share-A-Cart has been great since it feels reliable and didn't ask for my login.

  • generates a simple code
  • roommate just pastes it
  • no shared passwords Iirc it just copies the items over. Not 100% sure on the tech but it works!
