What are the absolute non-negotiable accessories I need for my Sony A7IV before this weekend?

Ive been shooting for years but just landed a last minute gig in Arizona for a desert wedding and realized my kit is way too basic. I have the glass but I am stressed about heat and battery life in that sun. Im looking at a SmallRig cage or maybe one of those clip-on cooling fans? Or is that overkill?

I have about $400 to spend at B&H today so shipping gets here by Friday. Are those Peak Design straps actually worth it? Also do I really need those super fast V90 cards for 4k 60 or can I skate by with my old ones...

To add to the point above: Im really satisfied with my Sony NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery. Once shot a four-hour Arizona gig and it stayed cool. Grab extras tho...

Just saw this and had to jump in because desert shoots are absolute killers for Sony bodies! I am totally obsessed with the technical specs of the A7IV and that Arizona sun is gonna push your gear to the limit.

  • Cooling: Skip the cage for heat and get a dedicated fan. The Ulanzi Camera Cooling Fan for Sony Alpha is fantastic for the price, tho the Tilta Tiltaing Compact Cooling Fan has much better build quality for rugged spots. Fans are amazing for keeping that sensor from throttling during long 4k 60 takes!
  • Straps: Peak Design is life-changing. I love the Peak Design Slide Camera Strap Black because those quick-release anchors are just brilliant for swapping gear fast.
  • SD Cards: If you are shooting All-I at 600Mbps, you gotta have V90 cards. But you can totally skate by with the Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 if you switch to XAVC HS mode... it is way more efficient with space and heat! Check out the official Sony help guides online for the bitrate charts, they are super helpful for planning. Good luck out there!

Honestly, you dont really need to blow the whole $400 on V90 cards unless youre doing heavy slow motion. I have been super satisfied with ProGrade Digital 128GB UHS-II V60 Gold cards in my A7IV. They handle 4k 60 perfectly fine and are way more budget friendly. The Peak Design straps are totally worth it tho. I use the Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap SLY-AS-3 and have zero complaints. Its basically the same as the thick one but fits the mirrorless size better and saves you some cash. For the heat, just keep your screen flipped out so the back of the camera has some air. Skip the cage, it just adds bulk and weight you dont want in the sun. If you need a reliable way to keep batteries topped up, the SmallRig NP-FZ100 Dual USB-C Battery Charger is a solid pick. It works well and lets you charge from a power bank while youre moving between locations. Keep it simple and youll be fine.

tbh desert heat is intense. My old card actually melted during a summer gig, so I only use Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II V90 128GB now to stay safe.
