What are the essential accessories for a new Z6II if I only have $400 left?

Im torn between:

  • FTZ II adapter for my old lenses
  • Used Z 24-70mm f4

Also looking at Delkin vs Sony Tough cards for my Italy trip next month... which is actually better? I cant decide if I need more batteries too...

Check the benchmarks on a site like Alik Griffin before buying. For the Italy trip, I'd go with the Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB because theyre basically indestructible compared to standard cards. If your old lenses are pro-grade, the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter is the safer investment for your budget right now. TL;DR: Get the Sony cards for reliability and check online speed charts.

Ive been very satisfied with my setup after making similar choices. When I started, I prioritized the native zoom lens to keep the kit compact for travel. Go for the native glass.

  • Native optics provide a much more balanced feel.
  • Extra power is essential for long days of shooting. The cards I currently use worked perfectly during my last trip. I chose the more durable option and havent had any issues.

Just found this thread and ^ This. Also, checking those speed benchmarks is such a smart move before dropping cash! I did a month in Europe last year with my Z6II and trust me, weight is everything. I started with the adapter but ended up hating how bulky it felt. I grabbed a used Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 S for about $350 and it was a total game changer. It is so sharp and compact! To stay under your $400 limit while still getting good cards, here is what I would do:

  • Buy that 24-70mm f4 used from a place like MPB or eBay. It is seriously amazing glass for the price.
  • Skip the super pricey Sony cards and grab a ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Gold 128GB. They are fantastic and usually way cheaper than the Tough cards.
  • Pick up a Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack for EN-EL15c to save some coin over the official Nikon ones. Ngl, having that native lens makes the camera feel so much better in your hand while you are wandering through Florence. You wont regret going native for travel!
