Will there a Nikon Z70 high-end APS-C Z-mount camera to be announced soon, just to compete with Sony a6700 and Canon EOS R7 ?
tbh i would be cautious about banking on a z70 release date anytime soon. nikon is pretty slow with their dx lineup and usually prioritizes full-frame glass. if it does happen you might want to consider the thermal limitations of a small body pushing high frame rates. its a common failure point for these compact flagship-spec cameras like the r7. id suggest making sure to invest in reliable media once it drops... something like the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II to keep the buffer clear and avoid corrupted files. stick to proven gear if you cant afford downtime while waiting for rumors to materialize. reliability is way more important than chasing specs that dont exist yet.
While Nikon hasn't officially announced anything yet, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a high-end APS-C Z-mount camera like the rumored Z70 in the near future. With the success of the Sony a6700 and Canon EOS R7, Nikon likely feels the pressure to offer a competitive option in this segment. They already have the Z50 and Z fc, but a more advanced model with better features would make sense to round out their APS-C mirrorless lineup.
Maybe coming in 2025.
Since latest rumors suggests that Z50 II will be released in late 2024 to early 2025. So higher-end Z70 could be released in 2026.
