just picked up a mint x-t4 for a wedding im shooting next month in brighton and im so hyped to finally join the fuji cult!! the colors are insane but i definitely need more juice than the one oem battery it came with. i looked at wasabi power on amazon cuz they're cheap but then i saw a thread saying they swell up and get stuck... then someone else mentioned patona protect being better for heat? i dont want to fry my gear lol.
what are you guys actually using that wont kill my camera??
> i saw a thread saying they swell up and get stuck... tbh i had the same fear when i first started out. wasabi can be hit or miss for long wedding days. ive been using the SmallRig NP-W235 Camera Battery and theyve been rock solid. they dont feel flimsy and the capacity is actually decent. plus you can usually snag a two pack with a charger that fits your budget perfectly.
> i looked at wasabi power on amazon cuz they're cheap but then i saw a thread saying they swell up and get stuck... Stumbled onto this thread and figured I'd weigh in. Honestly, you gotta be really careful with the super cheap stuff. Swelling is no joke and can totally ruin a wedding day if you cant get the battery out of the slot mid-shoot. Since you are on a budget, maybe check out the Neewer NP-W235 2250mAh Replacement Battery two-pack. They're usually pretty decent for the price. One quick tip tho: dont ever charge them while they are still warm from shooting. Let them sit for 20 mins first. I would suggest looking into the Baxxtar Pro NP-W235 2250mAh Battery as well because they tend to have better quality control than the absolute bargain bin brands. If you see even a tiny bit of bulging on the casing, just toss it. Its just not worth frying your x-t4 over a few quid.
yo, congrats on the x-t4! quick question though... are you planning to charge these inside the body or via an external hub? that heat buildup during charging is usually what causes the swelling. honestly, look at the Patona Protect NP-W235 2250mAh. they use an ntc thermistor which is basically a sensor that monitors the cell temp to prevent expansion. just make sure your charger supports the 2250mAh capacity so you get a full cycle.
