I've been eagerly waiting to get my hands on the Fujifilm X100VI, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere I look. I know the camera has been incredibly popular since its release, and the ongoing global chip shortage hasn't helped the situation.

I was wondering if anyone has any insights or predictions on when the X100VI might be back in stock at major retailers? Have you heard any rumors or seen any reliable information regarding the expected availability timeline?

Finally got my Fujifilm X100VI Silver and im super happy with it, no complaints at all. If youre still looking, here is what worked for me:

  • Call small local camera shops in rural areas instead of the big chains.
  • Use a browser monitor tool that pings you when the page changes. Since the camera arrived, I actually spent the whole weekend in my garage building a custom leather half-case for it. I had some scrap Horween leather left over from a boot project and figured id try my hand at some saddle stitching. It turned out surprisingly well and feels much better in the hand than the mass produced stuff. Spent more time burnishing the edges than actually taking photos, lol. Anyway, just stay patient. But yeah.

I actually just received my X100VI that I pre-ordered a couple months ago from B&H Photo. It seems like they are getting small batches sporadically. When I placed my order, they estimated 3-5 weeks before it would ship and it ended up taking about 6 weeks. So inventory is slowly trickling in but demand is still outpacing supply. Your best bet is to place a backorder with a reputable retailer and be patient. It's an amazing camera and well worth the wait! In the meantime, you could always rent one from a site like LensRentals if you have a shoot coming up and need it short-term.

tl;dr - be careful with sketchy sites and consider if you really need the Fuji specific features. Like someone mentioned, the wait times are just getting longer and longer. I went through the same thing last month and honestly almost got burned by a shop that claimed to have them in stock but looked super suspicious... definitely be careful with where you put your info. I actually spent a while looking at the Ricoh GR III as an alternative because I was so frustrated. Are you set on the Fuji film recipes specifically, or are you just looking for any compact street camera? Also, are you buying this for a specific event or trip?

im right there with you... its honestly exhausting checking the same five tabs every morning just to see out of stock again. i really want that 40mp sensor for the extra cropping room but the wait is getting ridiculous. tbh i just want to start taking photos already. since we are stuck waiting, i have been looking at a few ways to get that same performance or at least be ready:

The fastest way to get X100VI at launch price is pre-order at B&H Photo Video and Adorama.

And also keep tracking on Amazon product page, sometimes they will have it in stock: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Fujifilm+X100VI+Digital+Camera+Silver&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50

Ngl the FOMO on this is getting wild but the risks are even higher lately. I remember waiting forever for my first real setup and I almost fell for one of those too-good-to-be-true listings on a random site. It actually happened to me once on a used deal where the sensor arrived with a scratch... total nightmare getting a refund. These days I am way more conservative. You might want to consider checking the used inventory at the big dedicated camera resellers instead of waiting for a factory new unit. Honestly any Fujifilm from the last few years is gonna give you amazing results anyway. I would suggest looking at their older series if you are tired of the hunt. Just be careful and make sure to buy from somewhere with a real return policy tho. Better to be safe than stuck with an expensive brick.
