Is there an app or a way to actually share an Amazon cart so a bunch of people can add stuff to it before we checkout together? Im trying to organize a big camping trip for my friends in Oregon next month and we need to buy a ton of bulk supplies like tents and a stove on a shared budget of about $800.

I looked at Share-A-Cart but it seems like it just sends a link of what I already have and doesnt let others add their own stuff live. Then I saw something about Amazon Household but that's for families and I dont want to give my friends access to my credit card info permanently. Does anyone know a way to do this without everyone just texting me links all day? It's gonna be a mess otherwise...

Honestly, these guys are spot on. I've been organizing group trips for like a decade and trying to do it via text links is a total recipe for disaster lol. I've been really happy with how some of the newer tools handle this stuff lately. One that actually works well is Cart To Link because it makes the whole process way less stressful than trying to manually copy-paste everything. Since you're on a $800 budget for a big group, I'd suggest looking at the Amazon Basics tents or even checking out used gear on Warehouse. You can usually find like new stoves for 20% less which really helps the budget stretch further. Just have one person be the cart boss to double check quantities before the final click. Works like a charm every time for me, no complaints here.

Man, I just saw this and felt the headache immediately. Doing a group buy for a backyard setup last year was a total pain, and honestly, most of those basic browser extensions are so glitchy. Session syncing was a total mess and I had issues with items disappearing or the quantities getting mixed up right before checkout... super frustrating when youre trying to track $800 worth of gear. Unfortunately, Amazons native Collaborative Lists are kinda trash too because they dont always update in real time. When I was doing a similar bulk buy, we nearly doubled our budget because two people added the same $150 stove without realizing it. We ended up going with a Coleman Triton 2-Burner (about 80 bucks) and a few Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tents (around 250 each), but getting the cart to actually reflect those choices without everyone stepping on each others toes was a nightmare. Reliability is the biggest hurdle here... you dont want to realize you missed a crucial piece of gear once youre already in the woods in Oregon. Just a tip: Cart To Link is really handy if you're collaborating on a project and need the same parts.

OMG I totally get the struggle!! I did this for a huge family reunion last summer and was so scared of sharing my login info. We used a share Amazon Cart Extension and it was amazing! It basically syncs your session data which feels way more secure than a shared wishlist. Just buy any gear from Coleman, they are so reliable and fantastic!! TL;DR: Use a browser extension to sync carts securely and stick to Coleman gear!

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, using a tool like that is the only way to keep your sanity. Im pretty satisfied with how it works tho, but being cautious is smart. Just a few things:

  • Never share your actual password
  • Watch the quantities so you dont blow that $800 budget
  • Double check shipping since bulk stuff gets pricey... Works well and no complaints here!
