I just purchased the new Canon EOS R10 mirrorless camera and am wondering what memory cards people are using with good results. The manual says it supports SD UHS-II cards.

I mainly shoot 4K video up to 30 fps but also want to use the 24MP RAW burst mode for action shots.

Are there particular UHS-II SD card brands/models you'd recommend for the EOS R10 based on your experience? Fast write speeds and reliability are my priorities.

caught this thread a bit late but i wanted to say dont overthink the card speed too much for the R10. you can definitely save some cash here. honestly just go with any decent UHS-II card from Lexar or SanDisk and you wont have any issues with that 4K video.

  • make sure it says UHS-II on the front or the buffer will be a nightmare
  • stick to the big brands you recognize
  • avoid those weird no-name cards even if they look like a bargain i would suggest being a bit cautious about where you buy them tho... fake cards are a huge problem lately and theyll fail right when youre shooting something important. as long as you get a mid-range one from a real store you'll be golden.

Just catching up on this thread. Be careful about just chasing the highest speed ratings on the box. You might want to consider how you actually plan to use the camera before spending too much. Tbh reliability is way more important than speed if the card fails in the middle of a shoot. I have a couple questions to help figure out what fits:

  • How long are your typical video clips going to be?
  • Are you planning to fill the buffer with those RAW bursts constantly or just occasionally? I would suggest thinking about your total budget too. Sometimes its better to have two reliable mid-range cards than one super fast one that breaks the bank. Make sure you dont overlook how much storage space you actually need for a full day of 4K.

For the Canon EOS R10, I'd recommend using UHS-II SD cards for optimal performance. The camera has a single UHS-II compatible SD card slot, so you'll want to take advantage of that. Some great options include:

  1. SanDisk Extreme PRO UHS-II (up to 300MB/s read speed)
  2. Sony TOUGH-G Series UHS-II (up to 300MB/s read speed)
  3. ProGrade Digital UHS-II (up to 250MB/s read speed)

These cards will allow you to shoot continuously at high speeds and handle 4K video recording without issues.

  • honestly i have been pretty disappointed with some of the cards i bought for my r10.
  • unfortunately the build quality on the lexar ones i tried just wasnt as good as expected... the plastic felt really flimsy compared to sandisk.
  • im just so cautious now because i once lost a whole day of photos when a card corrupted... it was actually during this trip to a tiny town in ohio where they have the worlds largest basket.
  • the basket was cool i guess but the hotel had these really scratchy blankets and i couldnt sleep a wink. anyway lol, sorry kinda went off topic there.
