I'm honestly so fed up with this camera dying right when the light gets good. I bought this SD Quattro for a landscape trip to the Peak District next month and I'm already regretting it because the battery life is just... well it's basically non-existent. I'll take like 50 shots and the bar is already red and I'm getting so anxious every time I turn the thing on. My logic was that the Foveon sensor is worth the hassle but now I'm just stressed out.
I need to find a battery grip that actually works but I'm seeing mixed stuff online. There's the official Sigma PG-41 but it's like 180 quid which feels like a massive ripoff on top of what I already spent. So I was thinking maybe a third-party one would be okay? But then I'm worried about it frying the electronics or just being cheap plastic that breaks in my bag. I've looked at some clones on eBay but they don't have many reviews and I don't want to waste more money.
Does anyone know if the official one is really worth the extra cash or is there a specific off-brand one that actually holds the charge well? I just need this sorted before my trip because I can't keep swapping batteries every twenty minutes in the cold...
Honestly, third-party grips for the Quattro are basically unicorns. If the official one is too pricey, try a dummy battery setup instead. It saves cash and gives way more runtime than standard cells anyway.
Look, just bite the bullet and get the official Sigma PG-41 Power Grip. In my experience, third-party grips for niche cameras like the Quattro are usually total garbage.
Exactly what I was thinking
