So I finally picked up a used Sigma fp for a trip to Tokyo next month and man this thing is tiny. Almost too tiny lol. Im trying to figure out the best way to rig it without making it huge. My logic was to get a cage first, but Im torn between the SmallRig one because its cheap and the Tilta cage since it seems more integrated. SmallRig is like 60 bucks vs Tilta at 100.

Also stuck on the SSD vs SD card thing. I could do a Samsung T5 on a mount but then its not pocketable anymore, or I could just blow my 300 dollar budget on two big UHS-II cards and call it a day. Which way would you guys go for a street setup where weight matters?

Honestly, ive been super happy with the SmallRig Cage for Sigma FP CCM2518. It fits perfectly and keeps everything safe without adding much bulk. For street stuff in Tokyo, id definitely go with cards over an SSD. Snagging a cable is a real worry imo. I use the Sony SF-G Tough Series 128GB UHS-II SD and theyve been rock solid. No complaints at all with that setup.

^ This. Also, I found that an SSD setup really compromises the fp’s portability for travel. Over the years, I’ve learned that internal media like the Lexar Professional 2000x 128GB SDXC UHS-II works best for street photography.

  • Reduces overall weight and bulk
  • Removes potential cable snags
  • Fits in standard jacket pockets The Tilta Full Camera Cage for Sigma fp is definitely worth the premium price tho. Its integration is much more refined for long-term use.
