What are the must-have accessories for a new Nikon Z6 II?

Finally got my Z6 II for a big trip to Iceland next month but I spent way more than I planned so my budget for extras is like 300 bucks max. I saw people arguing online about XQD vs CFexpress cards and honestly the price jump for CFexpress seems crazy if I'm just doing hobbyist landscape stuff. Also is the FTZ adapter actually worth it? I have one old 50mm lens but maybe I should just save that money for a native Z lens later on? I'm mostly worried about battery life in the cold too. Besides a card and maybe a spare battery what are the absolute must-have accessories I actually need to get started?

Unfortunately, I've found that cutting corners on storage often leads to data loss.

Just saw your post and i totally get the budget stress. I was in a similar spot when i moved to the z system. I've been really happy with how my gear holds up now, but it took some trial and error to figure out what actually matters for technical performance.

  • Storage: I went with ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Gold 128GB because the pcie 3.0 interface is way more future-proof than xqd. Even for stills, the fast offload speeds are huge when you're tired after a long day of shooting.
  • Handling: In iceland, you'll be on a tripod a lot. The SmallRig L-Bracket for Nikon Z6 II is essential because it keeps your center of gravity over the tripod head when shooting vertical. It really works well for those tall waterfalls.
  • Power: I've been using the Wasabi Power EN-EL15c Battery 2-Pack as backups. They work well in freezing temps and i've had no complaints with the charge capacity. The dual usb charger is great for the car. Skip that ftz adapter for now. Saving for native glass is smarter because z-mount optics are just technically superior... lmk if you need any more specs on those cards.
