I recently purchased a Nikon Z50 and I'm looking for recommendations on the best flash to pair with it. I'm an enthusiast photographer who mainly shoots portraits and events. I'd like a flash that offers TTL metering, decent power output, and wireless capabilities for off-camera use.

Godox V1 or Godox V860III.

Just found this thread and honestly you gotta go with Profoto if you want real reliability for your Z50! Their build quality is just phenomenal and they handle heat like nothing else on the market. If you are shooting events where you cant afford a misfire, this is the only way to go tbh. Here is why I love them:

  • Consistent color temperature across the whole power range
  • Amazing recycle speeds even when the battery gets low
  • Wireless protocols that actually stay connected in crowded rooms Seriously just pick up any speedlight from the Profoto lineup for the Nikon mount. They are pricey but the peace of mind is worth every penny! You wont regret investing in professional grade gear, it basically pays for itself in saved stress and zero missed shots.

Regarding what #4 said about how certain brands handle heat, man, that reminds me of this insane shoot I did with my brother-in-law a few years back! He was trying to prove that his budget setup could outlast my high-end gear during a marathon family reunion session in the middle of July. It was totally hilarious! Every time he tried to fire off a burst, his unit would just start whining and eventually he had to stop because the thing was literally too hot to touch while I was just clicking away without a care in the world. We ended up in this massive, high-energy debate about recycle times and whether the extra weight was actually worth the arm fatigue after five hours of shooting. By the end of the day, we were literally sitting on the porch comparing the clicking sounds of the battery doors to see which one felt more premium lol. Total gearhead moment! It was just so funny seeing the two brands side-by-side in the trenches like that... such a chaotic day honestly!

If you are looking a for compact and lightweight flash, I suggest you get the Godox TT350.
