Man the Z8 is just incredible! I picked mine up a few months ago and im still totally blown away by the autofocus, it is just amazing. Honestly i remember when i used to carry around this massive bag that weighed like forty pounds just to get decent shots... speaking of bags have you seen the prices lately?? Everything is getting so pricey and i try to save a buck wherever i can these days. I went to this local shop last weekend looking for a simple shoulder strap and ended up talking to the owner for like two hours about vintage glass. He had this old lens from the 70s that looked like it had been through a war zone but the optics were still totally pristine. It reminded me of this road trip i took through the Southwest back in 2015 where my car broke down in the middle of nowhere and i had to hitch a ride with a guy who collected old cameras. We spent the whole drive talking about film development and how the light hits the desert at sunset. Such a vibe... anyway lol sorry i kinda went off on a tangent there.

ive found that with the z8 you really gotta prioritize gear that wont fail when youre out in the field. im always paranoid about batteries or connections cutting out mid-interview. it actually reminds me of this one gig i did last fall where i was filming near the coast. the salt air was just brutal on everything. i spent more time cleaning my lens elements and worrying about my tripod legs seizing up than actually recording. honestly spent half the budget on specialized cleaning kits and those little silica gel packets you put in your bag. i ended up finding this amazing little diner nearby that served the best clam chowder i have ever had in my life. i think i went back three times that week just for the soup. anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.

Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
