I recently purchased a Nikon Z8 and I'm looking for the best gimbal to pair with it for smooth video footage. I shoot a variety of content, including travel vlogs, weddings, and documentaries. Ideally, I'd like a gimbal that can handle the weight of the Z8 with a lens attached, has a long battery life, and offers advanced features like object tracking and timelapses.
What do you think is the best gimbal for the Nikon Z8?
Regarding what #1 said about "If you are looking for a professional gimbal, I highly recommend the DJI RS4 PRO." -- I have to agree, its probably the only thing that handles the Z8 properly right now. In my experience over the years, the biggest issue with the Z8 isnt just the weight, its the physical dimensions. Its a tall camera. If you try to use a smaller gimbal, you'll find the top of the body hits the roll axis arm when you try to tilt. Ive seen so many people buy a gimbal based purely on the weight limit and then realize they cant actually balance the thing because the camera body is too bulky for the frame. Also, a huge warning for wedding work: watch your cable clearance. The Z8 ports are positioned in a way that standard straight cables often snag on the gimbal motors during a transition. Tbh, its a recipe for a broken port if you arent careful. Always do a full manual rotation check before you hit that power button. Dont just rely on the motors to brute force through a bad balance, youll just end up with shaky footage and overheated gear in the middle of a shoot.
If you are looking for a professional gimbal, I highly recommend the DJI RS4 PRO.
