grabbing a Q2 for my tokyo trip but its so slippery. official leica grip is like 200 bucks which is insane.

i saw the match technical ones but do they block the back dial? my logic was go cheap with haoge but i dont want it to feel like junk...

I've tried many over the years and the JJC TA-Q2 Thumb Grip for Leica Q2 is basically a steal. It has a cutout so it wont block the dial. Its aluminum, not brass, but feels plenty sturdy. Save that cash for some good ramen instead.

I totally get wanting to save some cash, especially with how much the Q2 costs. You might want to consider the Haoge HG-Q2 Thumb Grip for Leica Q2 as a solid budget alternative. I would suggest being extra careful with the super cheap unbranded ones from random sites though. Make sure to check if they have a rubber gasket or padding where it slides into the hot shoe because you dont want to scratch the finish on a Leica. The Match Technical Thumbs Up EP-SQ2 for Leica Q2 is definitely the gold standard, but it's pricey and can feel a bit cramped near that back dial if you have larger hands. Honestly, the Haoge version provides the stability you need for Tokyo street shooting without the insane markup. Just double check that it sits flush so it doesnt snag on your bag while you are traveling.

^ This. Also, I'd actually steer clear of fixed thumb rests. Had one catch on my strap once. The IDS Works Foldable Thumb Rest for Leica Q2 is better since it doesnt snag.
