just blew my savings on an X-T5 for a Japan trip next week and I'm super anxious about what else I need.

stuck between the pricey fuji grip or the smallrig version maybe the smallrig is enough? do I need the dual charger or just extra batteries and charge in-camera? budget is basically zero now so what's essential?

Regarding what #1 said about the grip, I second that. Save your money for the actual trip. In my experience, the first thing you actually need is a screen protector because those tilt screens are magnets for scratches in crowded trains. Grab the Expert Shield Glass Screen Protector for Fujifilm X-T5 and put it on before you leave. I've tried many setups over the years and for travel, the stock strap is honestly garbage. It's uncomfortable and makes you stand out. I highly suggest the Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap SLL-BK-3. It's sleek and lets you carry the camera at your hip. One more thing... that 40MP sensor creates huge files. If you use a slow card, the camera will lag while clearing the buffer. Get a fast card like the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 so you aren't stuck waiting on the tech.

Regarding what #1 said about the grip, I actually think you should skip it. When I spent a month in Osaka, I realized every gram counts when walking 20k steps. The X-T5 is plenty ergonomic alone. Instead, grab a SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card. Running out of space mid-shrine visit is way worse than a small handle... trust me, I've been there.

Honestly, been shooting Fuji for a decade and I've learned the hard way that you dont need the official grip to keep the camera safe. Since you're on a budget for Japan, skip the expensive Fuji one.
