I finally caved and got the X100V after hunting for one that wasnt crazy overpriced for like six months. Ive been shooting on the X-T series forever but this little thing is a different beast and honestly the stock strap is just garbage lol it feels like plastic and digs into my neck. Im looking for something high quality leather but not those super thick ones since the camera is so light. Needs to look good for my trip to Florence in three weeks and my budget is around $80ish. What are you guys using that actually lasts and doesnt bleed dye on white shirts? Ive seen some boutique brands but dont know if theyre worth the hype...
In my experience, the Tap & Dye Legacy Leather Camera Strap 0.5 Inch is the gold standard for compact Fuji bodies. I've tried many over the years and Horween Chromexcel is the only leather I trust not to bleed on white shirts. Stick to a fixed-length strap to avoid bulky metal hardware. It stays supple and doesn't require a long break-in period, which is vital when youre on a tight deadline for a trip.
Caught this late... you want a neck strap or wrist loop for Florence? Tip: grab the Clever Supply Co. Skinny Anchor Strap 3/4 inch. Veg-tan leather wont bleed like oil-tanned stuff does.
saw this thread today and building on the earlier suggestion about keeping things slim, i totally agree that the x100v needs a thinner profile. i learned that the hard way when i took a chunky strap to europe last year... it just felt so bulky under my jacket and kept catching on my collar all day. honestly, just get any of the leather options from ONA and youll be set. i switched over a while back and havent had any complaints about dye rubbing off on my light colored linen shirts, which was a huge relief when it started getting humid. compared to the mass produced stuff you find on big sites, the quality is just on another level. its way more supple right out of the box so you dont have to spend weeks breaking it in before your trip. stay away from the heavy duty stuff meant for big dslrs and stick to their thinner lines, youll be golden.
Been thinking about your question for a bit because I love matching gear specs to specific use cases! For an X100V, you really want something with high tensile strength that isnt bulky. Honestly, Gordy's Camera Straps Adjustable Neck Strap Latigo Leather is the gold standard for budget enthusiasts. They use heavy-duty latigo leather that basically lasts forever. It wont stretch or bleed, and at roughly $45, the value is amazing for the technical quality you're getting. Another fantastic option is the SmallRig Leather Camera Strap 3485 Top-Grain Leather. It uses premium top-grain cowhide and the finish is super smooth so it wont snag on your clothes while you're walking around Italy. I love it because it looks high-end but only costs about $30, which is a total steal. Both of these look incredible... definitely gonna elevate the look for your trip!
Exactly what I was thinking
