Must-have travel accessories for the compact Fuji X-E4?

So I finally picked up an X-E4 for my Tokyo trip next month because my X-T4 was just way too bulky for all day walking. Im super stoked on the size but man this thing is slippery. I usually use a thumb grip but the layout on the E4 is weirding me out since its so flat and lacks any real punch out. I really need to keep it small enough for a jacket pocket but still want some stability for street shots. I have about 200 bucks left in the gear budget for this trip and I leave in three weeks. What are the absolute must-have accessories you guys use to make this thing more ergonomic without killing the compact vibe? Specifically looking for strap or grip recs that dont add too much weight.

I literally just got back from a trip with my E4 and man, I totally feel you on the grip situation. Its basically a smooth pebble! I spent my first day in Osaka fumbling with it until I slapped on the Haoge THB-X4B Metal Hot Shoe Thumb Rest. It is seriously amazing for stability... makes the camera feel like it is locked into your hand. I also compared it to the Lensmate Fujifilm X-E4 Folding Thumb Grip which is way more expensive but honestly, the Haoge is just as solid for half the price. If you need a little more substance for your fingers to wrap around, the JJC HG-XE4 Metal Hand Grip is fantastic too. It adds a small Arca-Swiss plate and a front lip but keeps the profile super slim. Love these together!! TL;DR: Haoge thumb rest for leverage and JJC grip for front security. Both fit in a jacket pocket easily.

Nice choice on the E4. Tokyo involves a ton of walking so the weight savings will be a lifesaver, but yeah, its basically like holding a bar of soap. I've been using one for a year and i'm pretty paranoid about dropping it... especially in crowds. For staying pocketable but secure, here is what I actually trust:

  • The Fujifilm TR-XE4 Thumb Rest is pricey but fits the lines perfectly and wont wiggle loose like some cheap third party ones. It makes a huge difference for one-handed shots.
  • Grab a Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap because it lets you drop the camera to your side without it hitting the pavement if someone bumps you in a crowded subway.
  • Since the screen is flush, a Expert Shield Glass Screen Protector for Fujifilm X-E4 is a no brainer to avoid scratches from jacket zippers. That setup keeps it slim enough for a coat pocket and stays way under your 200 buck limit. Keeping it simple is usually better for street stuff anyway.

Unfortunately, most grips fail on technical specs.

> I really need to keep it small enough for a jacket pocket but still want some stability for street shots. Just saw this thread. I am very satisfied with using a leather half case instead of those bulky metal grips. I use the TP Original Fujifilm X-E4 Leather Camera Case and it works well because it adds a slight bump on the front that mimics a grip without the 100g weight penalty of an L-bracket. Since you are going to Tokyo, you really need to prioritize power management too. The X-E4 is CIPA rated for about 380 shots, but in real-world street use with the EVF, it drains fast. I suggest grabbing a spare Fujifilm NP-W126S Li-Ion Battery because the official cells have better thermal management than cheap clones. I also recommend a JJC SRB-B11 Metal Soft Release Button. It gives you a much more tactile shutter response, which is crucial for stability when shooting one-handed. It keeps the profile slim enough for a pocket while giving you that extra bit of control. No complaints with this setup after months of use.
