Got a Mini 3 Pro coming for a trip to the coast next month and I'm trying to figure out what I actually need to buy. I saw the Fly More combo mentioned everywhere but it's so expensive and I've already blown most of my budget on the drone itself. I read about ND filters too but some guys say they're overkill for beginners and others say you cant film without them? Its confusing. I've only got about 100 bucks left to spend.

  • need stuff that fits in a small backpack
  • something to help with landing in grass
  • extra batteries are a maybe?

Is there anything else that's actually essential or can I skip the fancy stuff for now...

Late to the party here but figured id jump in. I remember my first trip to the coast with a drone, and honestly, the one thing that saved me wasnt a fancy filter, it was having a decent write speed on my storage. Youre gonna be shooting 4K video at 150 Mbps, so if your card is slow, the drone just stops recording. Ngl its super annoying. I always grab the SanDisk Extreme 128GB microSDXC V30. Since you mentioned the grass issue, if you wanna save cash, I actually just practiced hand-launching and hand-landing. It works great once you get the hang of it. If you still want a hardware fix for the backpack, look at a Sunnylife Propeller Holder for Mini 3 Pro. It keeps the blades from getting bent in your bag, which basically ruins flight stability. Costs about 10 bucks. With the leftover cash, you could actually snag one DJI Mini 3 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery for around 65 to 70 dollars. Having that extra 34 minutes of flight time is huge.

I have been very satisfied with my Mini 3 Pro setup lately. Given your 100 dollar limit, I would prioritize a landing pad and filters over extra batteries right now. For the grass issue, I compared leg extensions versus a pad. Extensions add drag and can affect flight dynamics, so I recommend the PGYTECH Drone Landing Pad Pro 50cm. It folds down small and keeps the gimbal clear of debris. Regarding filters, the Freewell Bright Day 6-Pack ND Filters for Mini 3 Pro is a solid choice compared to the basic DJI set. You get ND16 through ND2000 which is essential for managing shutter speeds in bright coastal sun.

  • PGYTECH Pad: Great for sand and grass protection.
  • Freewell NDs: Better variety and optical quality than OEM filters. TL;DR: Get a portable landing pad and the Freewell ND kit. It fits your budget perfectly and covers the actual essentials for a beach trip.

Like someone mentioned, the coast is a whole different beast. Unfortunately, I had issues with my first trip because the salty air was way harsher than I expected and gunked up my gimbal. It wasnt as good as I hoped... I really wish Id just kept my cash for a protection plan instead of fancy trinkets. Quick question tho, what kind of weather are you expecting out there? That usually changes everything.
