I just pulled the trigger on a Mini 4 Pro for my trip to Iceland literally leaving this Friday and now I am panicking because I realize I have like zero accessories. I spent most of my budget on the drone itself so I only have about 150 bucks left for extras. Im torn between grabbing the Fly More battery kit because I dont want to run out of juice in the middle of nowhere but then I keep seeing people say ND filters are a must for that bright glacier light. Should I go with the extra batteries or stick to standard flight times and get the Freewell All Day filter pack instead?? Or maybe just a hard case? I really need to order today to get it in time...
Batteries are way more vital for Iceland! The wind there just eats through power.
Just saw this and tbh if you're on a tight budget after buying the drone, dont forget about your storage and controller safety. I've been really happy with the SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB microSDXC UHS-I Card since the internal storage is basically nothing. It works well and handles the 4K video without any issues. Also, since you're hiking in Iceland, get a DJI RC 2 Lanyard Neck Strap. It’s a cheap way to make sure you don't drop your expensive remote on a glacier or rocky path. I feel way more secure using one. Lastly, grab a K&F Concept Camera Lens Cleaning Kit because that sea spray and mist will get all over your lens. Simple stuff but it kept me flying without stress.
Honestly, Ive been thinking about your gear list and unfortunately, many pilots ignore the technical risks of landing in places like Iceland. I once had issues with fine volcanic grit getting into the gimbal assembly on a similar trip and it basically ruined the whole experience. It wasnt as good as expected and I nearly lost the drone. You should probably prioritize hardware safety over extra flight time if your budget is tight. Technical essentials for reliability:
