So i finally upgraded from my old mini 2 to the mini 4 pro lately and man the camera is amazing but the footage is looking so choppy when im out in the sun. i definitely need some nd filters to get that 180 degree shutter rule thing going but there are so many options on amazon right now. im heading down to the bahamas in like two weeks for a family trip so i need something that ships fast and wont fail on me. i've been looking at the freewell all day pack mostly cuz everyone says they are the gold standard for quality but they are $70 which is a lot for a few bits of glass.
then i saw the skyreat set which is way cheaper and seems to have more filters in the box for like $40. like for $30 less i can get more glass but i dont want it to mess with the gimbal or make the footage look soft or yellowed. dji has their own set too but its only like 3 filters which feels like a ripoff for fifty bucks honestly. has anyone used both? i mainly do landscape stuff and i dont want to spend more than 80 bucks if i can help it since i already dropped a ton on the fly more combo and my wife is already side-eyeing the credit card bill... do the freewells actually stay on better or is the skyreat stuff just as good for a hobbyist like me?
Unfortunately the DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters Set ND16 ND64 ND256 was a letdown.
Ive tried many and K&F Concept ND Filter Set for DJI Mini 4 Pro 6-Pack is my go-to.
> Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately the DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters Set..." totally agree! basically the consensus here is that dji is a ripoff and the cheaper sets are actually winning. honestly tho, just search youtube for "mini 4 pro filter comparison"... there are amazing videos that show the color shift for every brand mentioned. its the best way to decide before your trip! enjoy the bahamas, the footage is gonna be fantastic!
Re: "Yeah quick reply while i have a sec......" - totally agree with what you said about the mid-range glass being just as good nowadays. i was so nervous about the gimbal weight on my DJI Mini 4 Pro at first but ive been really satisfied with the results i got from a random set i found online. honestly most of the third-party brands work fine and dont mess with the calibration.
Yeah quick reply while i have a sec... i totally agree with the consensus that the dji sets are overpriced for what you get. over the years ive tried dozens of these things and honestly, in my experience, the mid-range stuff has caught up to the premium brands in terms of glass quality. if youre worried about the budget but want total reliability, check out the Neewer ND Filter Set for DJI Mini 4 Pro 6-Pack. i used them on a windy coastal shoot recently and they stayed on perfectly with zero gimbal errors. the glass is surprisingly clear and i didnt notice any weird color shifting in the shadows like you sometimes see with the super cheap off-brands. for those bahamas beaches youre gonna need the higher stops like nd64 or nd128 anyway because that white sand is basically a giant reflector. if you really want to save cash but keep the quality high, neewer is a solid bet. just make sure you mount them before powering up so the gimbal calibrates correctly with the extra weight. have a killer trip!
Can vouch for this
Re: "Can vouch for this" - been thinking about your Bahamas trip and honestly the glare off that turquoise water is a beast to manage. Ive been flying drones for years and usually stick to a couple of brands that dont mess with the gimbal motors over time.
