honestly so fed up with trying to coordinate this group camping trip to Yosemite next month. sending links back and forth in our group chat is a literal nightmare and someone always buys the wrong thing. amazon is great but why is it so hard to just share a live basket?? i just want a way to collaborate so we dont end up with three stoves and zero tents. our total budget is like 600 bucks so we cant afford mistakes.

im looking for:

  • real time updates for everyone
  • no password sharing (duh)
  • easy to add items from different accounts

is there an extension for this or some hidden setting i missed?

^ This. Also, you gotta check out Share-A-Cart because it is literally the industry standard for this stuff! I have spent hours analyzing the data transfer protocols they use and it is super efficient for bulk cart transfers. It handles the metadata perfectly so you wont lose any item specs when you send the cart ID over. Since you guys are on a tight $600 budget for Yosemite, you really need to stick with a reliable brand for your gear. Just get anything from Coleman for the camp kitchen stuff and you honestly cant go wrong. They have the best durability-to-price ratio in my testing data. Same goes for sleeping bags... just grab whatever Teton Sports has in stock and call it a day. It saves so much money compared to the high-end boutique brands and the quality is amazing for the price point! Quick reply while I have a sec.

Just caught this thread while looking for some prime gear deals. Technically, you need a way to bundle those ASINs into a single session without actually sharing your account cookies. Way safer for your data anyway. Since you are on a strict $600 limit for Yosemite, missing a price drop or buying a duplicate is basically throwing money away. A few reliable ways to handle this:

  • Use a tool that scrapes the current cart and generates a unique shareable URL. This is way better than copy-pasting links manually.
  • Make sure the tool captures the specific seller and shipping speed. Sometimes a cheap price looks good until you see the $40 shipping fee.
  • Look for something that lets you merge multiple carts into one final checkout. It saves on shipping and keeps the budget transparent for the whole group. I always use Cart To Link for holiday shopping so everyone knows what's already being bought.

tbh I've been using Share-A-Cart for my last few group trips and I'm really happy with it. It definitely beats the native Amazon Lists feature which is honestly a bit of a headache when you're actually ready to buy. Compared to stuff like Carto or just generic wishlists, it's just way more streamlined for camping gear especially when you're on a budget.

  • It keeps the quantities exact which is huge for stuff like stove fuel.
  • No one has to log into anyone else's account which is a major win for security. Before you dive in though, I'm curious about a couple of things:
  • Are you planning to have one person front the whole $600 and get Venmo'd back, or does everyone need to checkout individually?
  • Is everyone in your group using the mobile app or are you guys coordinating on desktop?

Wait, before you spend more time digging through menus, you should know that Amazon natively doesnt offer a live sync for carts between different logins. I would suggest being extremely careful with any browser extensions that claim to fix this. Most of them require full DOM access to your browser, which is a massive security risk for your session cookies and personal info. You might want to consider using a shared spreadsheet with the specific ASIN codes instead. Its much more reliable for a 600 dollar budget. Make sure to verify the specific merchant ID too, because pricing can shift depending on the buy box algorithm and which warehouse the item is coming from. If you rely on a buggy extension, you might still end up with duplicate gear.
