I'm trying to plan my daughters 5th birthday party for next Saturday and my husband and I are both trying to pick out stuff on Amazon but I'm really confused. Can we both just log into the same cart and add things? I'm so scared we are going to buy two of the same streamers or plates and waste my $100 budget. I have no idea where to start with this and I'm really anxious about it being done by Friday.

  • need to stay under 100 dollars total
  • need husband and I to see the same list

Sorry if this is a dumb question but is there like a button to share a cart or do we have to use one phone? What's the easiest way to do this...

I agree that the cart isnt the best tool for this. A much more reliable method is using the Invite feature on a standard List. You can create a specific list for the birthday and invite your husband as a collaborator. This lets you both add items from separate accounts while seeing the same total. Weve been very satisfied with how it prevents duplicate orders and keeps us on track.

Just saw this and wow, I totally feel your anxiety! I tried doing the exact same thing for my sons birthday last summer and the cart was a total nightmare tbh. We kept overwriting each others stuff and it was so laggy that we almost bought double the decorations. Like someone mentioned, the shared List feature is seriously amazing for this!! You just create a new list, hit invite, and then you both can see everything in real time from your own phones. It even shows the total price for the whole list at the top so you can make sure you stay under that 100 dollar budget without doing any math yourself. It made our planning so much faster and we didnt end up with extra plates we didnt need. Just add the items to the list first, then move them all to the cart when you are ready to checkout on Friday. Seriously, it's a lifesaver for staying organized! Good luck with the party, shes gonna love it!

ugh i have the exact same question because i cant find a button for it either and its making our party planning a mess.

  • compared to other big retail sites the way amazon handles this is really clunky and i have been searching for a share Amazon Cart Extension for ages without success.
  • been dealing with this for a few weeks now and still havent found a solution so i totally feel your frustration.

Basically, the Amazon cart is session-based and isnt really designed for simultaneous multi-user writes. You might want to consider that if you both log into the same account, you could run into concurrency issues where one persons additions overwrite the others during a refresh. I would suggest using a shared Wish List instead. It is way more stable for data syncing and tracking a 100 dollar budget. Just create a new list for the party and use the Invite button to give him edit access. Make sure to check the list settings so you both have permissions. I would be careful about just sharing the cart because if one of you hits checkout while the other is still browsing, you will end up with duplicate orders or missed items. Stick to the collaborative list feature to keep things organized and ensure the data stays synced.
