So I just bought my first real camera which is a Canon R100 and honestly I feel so out of my depth here. I've only ever used my iPhone so seeing all these buttons is stressing me out lol. The thing is I'm leaving for this huge family trip to Italy in literally five days and I just realized I probably need more than just the camera in the box?? Like do I need a special bag or extra batteries or something? I saw some people talking about lens filters to protect the glass but then someone else said they make the photos look bad so I'm just totally lost.
My budget is pretty tight after spending so much on the camera itself maybe like $150 or $200 max for everything else. I'm really scared of the battery dying while we're out walking all day or running out of space on the little card thing. Does it even come with a memory card or do I have to buy a specific brand? Sorry if these are really stupid questions I just dont want to get to Rome and realize I forgot something super basic that ruins the whole experience. What are the absolute must-have accessories I need to buy before I get on my flight?
Adding my two cents since I have spent years traveling with gear. You definitely need a fast card or the camera might lag. Grab a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC V30 UHS-I so you dont run out of space mid-trip.

You are going to have the absolute best time in Italy and the photos will be so much better than your phone, seriously. Dont even worry about all those buttons yet, just leave it on the green auto mode and enjoy the trip! It takes amazing shots without you having to be a pro. Since you have a budget, you can totally get the essentials for under $200. Most cameras dont actually come with a memory card so you definitely need to buy one before you get to the airport. I always use the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I V30 because it holds thousands of photos and it is fast enough that the camera wont lag when you're taking lots of pictures. About the battery... yeah, mirrorless cameras eat through them way faster than youd expect. You should definitely get a backup. I suggest:
