honestly im so done with my godox v1 right now its literally misfiring every third shot on my r6 and i have a wedding in chicago this saturday so i need a fix like yesterday. my logic was that a third party would be fine but the connection feels so loose and wobbling all over the place which is driving me insane. i was thinking about just biting the bullet on a canon 600ex-rt ii but i dont know if its worth the extra cash or if there is something better for mirrorless specifically? budget is around 400 bucks maybe more if it actually works. what are you guys using that doesnt disconnect every time you move the camera...

ugh, i feel your pain. nothing kills the vibe at a wedding faster than gear that decides it doesnt want to communicate anymore. super disappointing because the godox stuff used to be good enough but the feet on the newer mirrorless bodies just feel cheap and wobbly lately. honestly, if you're looking for something that actually stays put on your r6, the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT is a total sleeper hit. its way more compact than the 600 series but the connection is rock solid. i know it's not the biggest flash in the world, but it never misfires and fits your budget perfectly. tbh if you can find the extra cash and want something that literally never fails, the Profoto A10 AirTTL-C Flash for Canon is the dream. it's way over 400 bucks but it stays locked on like it's part of the camera. for a chicago wedding this saturday though? just grab the 430ex. it wont fail you on the dance floor and it definitely wont wiggle around while you're moving.

honestly had the same issues and it was just so disappointing. for weddings you really cant risk it with loose connections. i ended up switching to the Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT and its way more solid on my r6. unfortunately third party stuff just isnt as good as expected with build quality... spending the extra cash is worth it just so you dont have to worry about misfires this weekend.

Building on the earlier suggestion, you might want to consider the Westcott FJ80 II Universal Speedlight instead. Just make sure the metal foot is locked tight so it doesnt wobble.

just found this thread and honestly it brings back some bad memories. i had a total meltdown at a shoot last year because of this exact thing. the budget stuff seemed like a steal until the pins stopped lining up right. missed a huge moment because the flash decided it didnt want to be friends with the hot shoe anymore... was so embarrassing. eventually i just gave up and swapped to the one i have now. it hurt my wallet big time but i havent had a single misfire since. the way the locking mechanism actually fits the r series is just different. sometimes you really do get what you pay for when it comes to reliability. worth it for the peace of mind alone.
