So I finally saved up enough to get my first real camera which is a Fujifilm XT30 II and I am so excited to use it but I am totally lost on what lens to actually buy for it. Im going on a big trip to Japan in November and I really want to take some nice photos of the shrines and the streets at night but I honestly have no idea where to start with all these numbers and brands. Someone told me that Tamron makes lenses for Fuji now and they are a bit cheaper than the official ones which is great because my budget is kinda tight after buying the camera body itself like I have maybe $700 or $800 left to spend.

I keep seeing people talk about the 17-70mm and also an 18-300mm one but I dont know what those numbers mean for like... how far it zooms? I really just want one lens that can do everything because I dont want to be that person stopping every five minutes to change parts on my camera while my friends are walking away. Is one of these better for travel? Like if I want to take a picture of a mountain and then a picture of my ramen right after do I need two different things? I mostly want to do street photography and maybe some landscape stuff in Hakone if the weather is good.

Also I saw something about stabilization and I dont know if my camera has that built in or if the lens needs it... I think its called VC on the Tamron ones? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm just really worried about spending a lot of money on something that wont fit or wont work right for what I need. I've been watching YouTube videos but they use so much technical jargon that my head is spinning. If you were going to Japan for two weeks and could only take one Tamron lens which one would you pick for a total beginner who just wants sharp photos without a headache...

For your Japan trip, the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD for Fujifilm X is the most logical choice. Since the XT30 II doesnt have stabilization, the VC in this lens is essential for sharp photos at night. A constant f/2.8 aperture is much better for low light than the 18-300mm zoom. This fits your budget and handles everything from landscapes to ramen shots.
