Ive been shooting video for years but usually on bigger rigs so this tiny Sony ZV-E10 is a bit of a learning curve. My logic was the internal mic with that little puff ball would be enough but the handling noise is killing me every time I adjust my grip. Was looking at the Rode VideoMic GO II but then I started wondering if I should utilize that digital multi-interface shoe instead? I have about 200 bucks to spend before my Japan trip next month and just want something that wont pick up my hands moving. Should I stick with a 3.5mm jack or is the digital connection actually better...
Digital is definitely the safer bet for travel. Be careful with 3.5mm cables because they snag and cause handling noise.

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
@Reply #2 - good point! I tried a few setups recently and it was honestly not as good as expected, which was a total bummer. The digital connection is definitely less messy but i've had issues with the shoe mount feeling a bit loose after a few days of heavy walking around. Just catching up on this thread and i think you really need to be careful with your choice for a big trip like Japan because you dont want to be stuck with gear that rattles. Honestly, there is so much conflicting info that i would just recommend doing your own deep dive on a couple sites first so you can hear the difference yourself.
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
